Esstech is one of the few companies to have achieved Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program certification through OSHA.

In 2009, SHARP certification was awarded to Esstech after an on-site audit of its operations. OSHA inspectors rated Esstech on more than 50 items ranging from hazard prevention and safety and health training to management supervision and employee participation. Companies must meet or exceed OSHA standards in every category to receive SHARP certification.

Our manufacturing facility, personnel, processes and procedures are constantly monitored to ensure they conform to the highest standards. From our careful selection of certified raw materials, through process documentation, testing, and packaging of the finished product, we work to ensure reliable lot-to-lot consistency and quality.

HISTORY

The roots of Esstech reach back to the mid-1850s, when German immigrant Henry David Justi invented new materials and procedures for the manufacture of porcelain teeth. Until that time, false teeth were handwork, which was highly variable and labor intensive.

Justi teeth win a prize for excellence and are displayed at the 1876 Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia.

The original display case is now a permanent exhibit at the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore, MD.

After nearly a century in the dental business, starting in the late 1930s with the advent of acrylic resins, a transition to molded plastic teeth took place. The Justi Company introduced the pioneering line of Denta Pearl plastic teeth at the Cleveland convention of the ADA in 1940. 

In 1941, Henry M. Justi, Jr. publishes a groundbreaking article in Modern Plastics detailing the advantages of plastic teeth over porcelain.  The company then placed its entire efforts to the development of acrylic materials for restorative dentistry.

Focusing on production of specialty acrylics for dentures, (what is now) Esschem relocated to a new facility in 1995. Remaining at the historic Essington location, Esstech was formed to focus on advancing material technology for industry.

Six generations removed from our founder, Henry M. (Tac) Justi is now President and CEO of Justi Group Inc.
